As borders and xenophobia have been frequent points of political discourse over the last few decades ramping up in the recent election, this documentary takes a different approach to looking at America by asking families when they became American. Giving select families the opportunity to speak candidly about their history and ethnic backgrounds takes the issue out of a political context where numbers and propaganda reign supreme, and reframe the “issue” as a human one.
